Mask Portraits

Due to the pandemic of Covid-19 WHO stated that medicine masks are profitable for the doctors and those who work with diseased. For regular life, the masks became a placebo for those who are afraid for their health. In the Mask Portraits series, the artist copes with the pressure of isolation through the limits of contemporary painting – transforming the masks into canvases. The portraits of people in masks represent the reconstruction of the public dialogue between the artist and the viewers. The referents for the portraits granted the artist the ability to work with their images, reflecting and depicting the emotions appearing within the relationship of the artist-referent become not only the gesture of hiding but demonstration and personalization.
